Professional Development Committee Meetings
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) is an active committee of the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association. Over this last year the Committee has met monthly. The current location for the Committee meetings is Parametrix's Conference Room (700 NE Multnomah, Suite 1100) at 7:30 am on the third Wednesday of each Month.
Certification Maintenance
Members of AICP are now required to maintain their certification through continuing education. Thirty-two hours of training are required every two years. In addition to the courses offered by OAPA and the APA you may wish to check out various online providers. For a complete list of the OAPA courses approved for CM click here.
Continuing Education
The PDC is responsible for providing opportunities for continuing education of OAPA members and to promote membership in OAPA and AICP.

The Committee is responsible for making revenue through the workshops to cover expenses of the PDC and to assist the OAPA general budget.
AICP
In addition, the PDC provides training for APA members interested in taking the AICP test. The PDC hires a professional AICP trainer to make the presentation. During the May 2007 exam, 8 members of OAPA passed the AICP exam with a 89% pass rate for the Chapter (compared to a 67% pass rate nationally).
Ethics
We sponsor an annual workshop at the Oregon Planning Institute. In addition the Committee has sent notices by email to OAPA members citing the AICP code of ethics webpage.

Communication
The Committee has several methods for promoting information relating to continuing members. These include email notes on the Agenda updates, workshop brochures and the OPJ.
