The Portland State University Intelligent Transportation Laboratory, in cooperation with the Northwest Transportation Consortium, a partnership between the Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho State Departments of Transportation and the Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC), is currently conducting research titled "Climate Change Impact Assessment for Surface Transportation in the Pacific Northwest." The objective of this research is to conduct a preliminary assessment of the vulnerabilities climate change poses to the surface transportation system in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska region, and to address the potential impacts and associated adaptation opportunities such as incorporation of climate change in long-range and multimodal transportation planning.

As part of this research, we are contacting planners with a brief (5-10 minutes) survey to determine what, if any, activities are being done to in regards to climate change adaptation. I am writing to ask if your association is willing to post a link to our survey on your homepage and/or listserv. Both of these resources have to the potential to reach a large audience of practicing planners whose feedback will not only allow us to learn about what activities planners are undertaking in terms of climate change planning, but also help us to identify the tools and resources they need to effectively plan for climate change adaptation.
