Assist the public in person and by phone. Conduct property research and respond to inquiries regarding planning and zoning. Interpret and apply State and County land use regulations and development codes to various land use activities and development proposals. Review land use applications, building permit applications, and site plans for compliance with development codes. Prepare public notices, land use decisions, and findings documents. Develop and maintain effective, harmonious and reasonable work relationships.
Good communication and writing skills and the ability to work well with the public; an understanding of the principles and procedures involved in current planning and the Oregon Statewide Planning Goals, Oregon land use statutes, and applicable Oregon Administrative Rules; ability to use Microsoft Word.
Prior experience using GIS and other land use applications, and experience in re¬search and data collection is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with previous professional planning experience; a Bachelor’s Degree in planning, geography or related field; or any satisfactory combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.
