The Community Development Director administers, plans and directs the activities of Clatsop County’s Community Development Department including land use planning, building codes, permitting and code enforcement as well as coordinating land use planning efforts between affected jurisdictions. Our ideal candidate is a highly ethical, principled, and knowledgeable director who will develop, implement and evaluate short and long-term departmental and related organizational and community goals and programs. He/she is expected to support a solution oriented culture of collaboration, respect, transparency and objectivity; will be seen as open, honest, objective and direct in all interactions at all levels both internally and in public, and will facilitate a strong customer service ethic.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in urban or regional planning, geography, public administration, landscape architecture, urban design, architecture, or related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in city, county or regional planning including at least two years in a supervisory or lead role.
